For more than a century, the Gstaad Palace has welcomed guests from around the world. A new documentary series offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the glamorous five-star hotel. In the first episode, the staff prepares for the upcoming winter season.
In mid-December, the Gstaad Palace opens its doors. Before high society gathers in the Bernese Oberland, around 300 employees polish the luxury hotel to perfection. In the kitchen, culinary director Franz Faeh rehearses new dishes with his team, refining everything from recipes to presentation. Lobster, Kobe beef, and foie gras are naturally part of the menu. “Our guests want this, so of course we provide it,” says Faeh, who once completed his apprenticeship at the Gstaad Palace.
Meanwhile, the housekeeping team led by Michaela Gäng is working at full speed. With a keen eye for detail, she prepares guest rooms with deliberate flaws that the room attendants must identify and correct.
