ย้อนไปในสมัยก่อนสงครามโลกครั้งที่สองเล็กน้อย ตัวเอก “พริ้ง” เป็นคนสวยพริ้งสมชื่อ พ่อแม่ตายไปตอนเด็กๆ ก็อยู่กับพี่สาวคนโต ซึ่งคอยดุด่า และเฆี่ยนตีพริ้งตลอด จนกระทั่งคุณประเทียบ ซึ่งเป็นมีศักดิ์เป็นภรรยาของญาติห่างๆของพริ้ง ไปพบแล้วสงสารจึงขอมาเลี้ยง คุณประเทียบเป็นสตรีไทยโบราณ ที่ใส่ใจเรื่องการบ้านการเรือน ก็พยายามอบรมสั่งสอนพริ้งให้เป็นกุลสตรีไทย แต่...สอนเท่าไร คนอย่างพริ้งก็ไม่เคยสนใจ
